Exactly What to Email to Increase Sales

Increase sales with emailEmail truly is the best way to drive repeat traffic to your website and increase your sales. It actually continues to outperform social media. Though most entrepreneurs have a fear that people will unsubscribe if they email, unsubscribes are to be expected, and not emailing your list is a huge missed opportunity to grow your income.

Here are 5 emails you can immediately send that will increase your average customer sale and deepen your relationships with your target market. You will find that people actually appreciate hearing from you when you send these! (Tip 3 is my favorite.)

1. When you first sign up a new client it is the perfect time to show them that you care. Send a welcome email that includes an immediate discount on their next purchase. (Repeat business is much easier to get than new business!)

Sample Subject Line:  Hi Jane, thanks for joining our family, enjoy 10% off!

2. Send a free report or worksheet to your customers. The freebie should fit your clients needs. So set up a few freebies to fit your typical clients needs. This immediately puts you in the position to serve your customers.

3. Mark the date and set up an autoresponder on the anniversary of people becoming a customer. (Use a tool like MailChimp, Constant Contact or iContact to send out the emails. They’ll allow you to easily segment your lists.)

If you are a service based business, it can say something like, “James, its been a year since we began serving you and it continues to be a privilege! As a thank you for entrusting us with your business, here is a complimentary [your gift].”

Tip: Make it a new service you are offering. This also introduces a new service they may be interested in purchasing in the future.

4. If you are product based business, set up the autoresponder based on anniversary or purchasing volume.  You can give them a discount or a free item that fits their taste.

Sample offer:  Jane, it’s been a year since you bought your first XYZ from us.  For our anniversary (we heart you), here’s 20% off your next purchase.

5. Send a great offer, free content or discount to customers that have not purchased in awhile.  Personalize the subject line and content of the email.

Sample subject: Is everything ok?
